Green Lane involved the demolition of a two-storey retail warehouse occupied, by Hawes and Curtis, to make way for 133 new residential units spread across six buildings, ranging from four to seven stories. In addition, the ground floor of one of the buildings was reserved for circa 1000sqm of shell only commercial space for an NHS Health Centre. The project also included the development of car parking spaces, a new vehicular access point off Colina Road, landscaping, a CHP Energy Centre, and relocation of an existing sub-station.
Arcus was appointed as Principal Designer and CDM Advisor for the pre-construction and construction phase for the project. The scheme had several challenges, including limited construction space on the tight plot of land, narrow access space and discovery of asbestos containing materials prior to the demolition phase. These aspects required careful planning and management to ensure public safety throughout the development.
Upon finishing the project, the client expressed satisfaction with Arcus’ achievement in meeting the project’s health and safety objectives under CDM.
